Kevin Riordan: Rowan inventor takes on an eager intern – just 14

Inventor, entrepreneur, and Rowan University assistant professor Tom Merrill wants to find a better way to cool the blood. With a total of $1.5 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health since 2005 - and, this summer, help from eager young intern Saurin Patel - Merrill is developing a device to more efficiently reduce the body temperature of heart attack and stroke victims.
